Sky Above Toronto

 

Sky Above Toronto is a watercolor collection about the changing atmosphere over Lake Ontario, where the Toronto skyline becomes a small but recognizable anchor within a much larger space.

 

In this series, the city is not the main subject. The sky is. I use the distant silhouette of downtown Toronto and the CN Tower as a repeated point of reference, while the real focus shifts from one state of nature to another: mist, storm clouds, moonlight, quiet mornings, glowing sunsets, and pale reflections on water.

 

Watercolor allows me to work with softness, uncertainty, and movement. The medium naturally carries the qualities I am trying to capture: air, moisture, light, and the feeling of something appearing and disappearing. Many of these works are built with large washes, soft edges, and minimal detail, leaving space for the viewer to breathe.

 

This collection began as a study of sky and atmosphere, but gradually became a personal visual record of Toronto as I experience it: not as architecture, but as distance, weather, light, and silence above the lake.
