Artist Statement

I paint moments in nature that cannot be repeated.

 

At this stage of my work, I am drawn to the sky because it is one of the few things we cannot control. It changes every minute. Light shifts, clouds move, the wind changes direction, and a moment that exists now will never exist again in exactly the same way.

 

I paint to preserve those fleeting moments before they disappear. The skyline or the landscape may appear in my work, but they are not the main subject. They simply give a sense of place while the changing sky tells the real story.

 

Watercolor is the only medium that feels honest for this idea. It responds to water, pigment, temperature, humidity, and time. Every painting develops differently, making each one as unique as the moment that inspired it.

 

When I paint, I hope to capture more than what I see. I want to preserve the feeling of standing beneath an open sky, where nature reminds us that not everything can or should be controlled.

 

If my paintings encourage someone to pause, look up, take a deep breath, and feel the movement of the clouds, the warmth of the evening light, or the promise of a new day, then they have done what I hoped they would.
